Primarily serving tourists taking vacations at the beach, 40 Brooks began as an 18 unit, three-story apartment hotel in 1910 and continued this function until after World War II when it converted to what it is today – unfurnished apartments. Today it has the same appeal it had over 100 years ago – it is half a block from the Venice boardwalk and beach. It is a perfect home base to enjoy Venice Beach living. Not only is it two-minute walk to the beach, it is a short walk to shops and restaurants on Main Street and Abbott Kinney and convenient to grocery stores like Erewhon, Whole Foods, and Ralphs.
The cozy apartments feature laminate floors and separate, fully-equipped kitchens with a gas range, refrigerator, microwave, and ample cabinets. Each apartment is wired for internet and cable. For fire safety the building is equipped with a system of sprinklers, alarms, and fire doors. To reduce sound the second and third hallways and the main stairs are carpeted. Entry doors to the building are kept locked, and each apartment is connected to an intercom located beside the main entrance. There is a coin operated laundry. Parking is on the street. All utilities are included in the rent: gas, water, trash, electric, and sewer. The lease is one year. There is no application fee. Sorry, no pets.
